World Spice Festival
Event Date : Starting from 12th November till 19th Nov 2007
The culinary delights of the World Spice Festival draw on a fusion of Sri Lankan spices and
cooking methods as well as the talents of visiting chefs and the signature spices from their
home countries. With mouth-watering recipes from Africa, China, India, Malaysia, Thailand
and Australia, visitors and locals savour every last spicy bite.
The 2006 event was held in Colombo and featured top signature chefs from countries that have
a tradition of spicy food, alongside local chefs from leading hotels and specialty
restaurants in Sri Lanka.
First held in 2005 and organised by Sri Lanka Tourist Board, events take place in various
restaurants and hotels throughout the city. There is also a spice bazaar held on the banks
of the Beira Lake each evening.
8th Colombo Marothon
Event Date : Starting on 7th October 2007 (Sunday)
Lanka Sportreizen together with Sri Lanka Tourism, Sri Lankan Air Lines, Health Ministry and the Sports Ministry is organizing this annual event targeting visitors with an interest in sports. This International Marathon was first introduced to the local athletic arena and soon included in the World Marathon Guide and has now become a regular annual event in Sri Lanka?s Sporting Calendar.
One of the objectives of this Marathon is to assist the charitable arm of the Sri Lankan Airlines ? Sri Lankan Care which is committed to the empowerment of children of the world through education, good health and a clean environment.
2007 Kandy Perahera

Esala (July/August) is the seasons of festivals in Sri Lanka and the full moon day of Esala is the climax of some of the festivals. The most magnificent of these festivals is the Kandy Esala Perahera. A spectacular medieval day pageant is held for 10 nights climaxing with the Kandyan dancers and drummers in colourful traditional costumes. Kandyan Chieftains in medieval court dress, more than one hundred caparisoned elephants whip crackers, torch bearers etc., make it an unforgettable experience.

Travel Mart 2007

The Sri Lanka Gateway to South Asia Travel Mart will be held for the fourth consecutive year from 16th to 18th June 2006 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike International Exhibition Centre in Colombo. A minimum of 200 buyers and 150 international and local exhibitors are expected to attend and participate at this travel mart which has now become a must attend event in the diary of travel professionals.
